The summer rederie of a Haute-Somme village
The Morcourt Flea Market brings life each early August to this small Haute-Somme village on the banks of the river between Corbie and Péronne. A village rederie with the typical atmosphere of Picardy, where individuals and a few local exhibitors set up their stalls for a day of bargain hunting in the heart of summer.
Morcourt is one of those discreet villages of the Haute-Somme, nestled along the river or its marshes, where the tradition of summer rederies is still kept alive. Each early August, the annual flea market transforms the streets and village square into a bargain-hunting trail.
As in most small villages of the department, the organization of this flea market is the work of local volunteers. Stalls are set up from early morning, exhibitors chat with each other.
The exhibitors, mainly individuals from the village and surrounding communes, offer the classic range of the rural flea market: clothing, used toys, books, crockery, small furniture, linen, knick-knacks.
Morcourt is a small commune of about 400 inhabitants located in the Haute-Somme, halfway between Corbie and Péronne. Crossed by the river and bordered by marshes, it enjoys a remarkable natural setting.
Plenty of sites within a few kilometers: Corbie abbey, valley viewpoints, fishing ponds, the Samara park, Somme battle memorial sites around Péronne and Thiepval.
