Second summer bargain hunting in the Belle Époque city
The June 14 Mers-les-Bains flea market is the second bargain hunting event of the season in this emblematic resort on the Picardy coast. Complementing the flea market of June 7, this vide-greniers offers bargain hunters a new opportunity to enjoy the exceptional setting of the Belle Époque city, between classified villas, seaside esplanade and white cliffs.
Mers-les-Bains multiplies bargain hunting events during the month of June, taking advantage of the tourist influx of the start of summer. After the June 7 flea market, the June 14 vide-greniers offers bargain hunting enthusiasts a new opportunity to enjoy the unique atmosphere of this exceptional seaside resort, classified as a protected area for its ensemble of 600 Belle Époque villas with spectacular polychromy. Two consecutive Sundays, two different exhibitor configurations, for a complete bargain hunting immersion in one of the most beautiful resorts on the Picardy coast.
Where the June 7 flea market brings together private individuals and professionals, the June 14 vide-greniers traditionally favors private exhibitors. This format, more accessible in terms of price, allows bargain hunters to get good deals on furniture, dishware, linen, clothes, books, toys, records, various trinkets. The atmosphere is also more family-oriented and village-like, with many residents of Mers-les-Bains and neighboring communities taking advantage of the good weather to empty attics and outbuildings.
The setting remains obviously one of the main assets of the rendezvous. The exhibitors set up in the streets of the town center, under the gaze of the Belle Époque villas with their colorful facades. Between two stands, bargain hunters can enjoy the esplanade facing the sea, admire the spectacular white chalk cliffs that close the bay on the north side, or simply breathe the salty air on the beach. A day of bargain hunting in Mers-les-Bains is always also a day of vacation.
Mers-les-Bains forms with Le Tréport and Eu (in Seine-Maritime) a unique ensemble of three twin resorts. Visitors to the vide-greniers can easily extend the day by crossing the Bresle to reach Le Tréport, its fishing port, its century-old funicular and its chalk cliffs, or by pushing to Eu and its Louis-Philippe castle. A perfect day combining morning Picardy bargain hunting, lunch by the sea and Norman walk in the afternoon.
