A flea market by the sea

Notre-Dame-de-Monts, a family-friendly Vendée resort, hosts the APEL Nazareth school's large flea market every 8 May. On Avenue de la Mer, the event uses the bank-holiday weekend to draw holidaymakers, second-home owners and locals. A fixture on the Monts coast, between Saint-Jean-de-Monts and Notre-Dame-de-Monts.

Coastal flea markets have a distinctive mix: everyday items from second homes alongside holiday gear (beach toys, inflatables, water sports kit). One of the few moments when locals and summer visitors share the same street buzz.

Notre-Dame-de-Monts, family resort

A Vendée commune of around 2,000 year-round inhabitants (many more in summer). With Saint-Jean-de-Monts, La Barre-de-Monts and Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez it forms the Pays de Saint-Jean-de-Monts. Fine-sand beaches, a wooded dune, marshes and a typical village.

Nazareth school

Nazareth is the contracted Catholic private school of Notre-Dame-de-Monts. Its APEL has organised this event for many years — a real highlight of community life.

Extending the day

The beach is metres away. Stroll the seafront or cycle the Monts-coast bike path. For inland green, the Breton-Vendée marshes are perfect by bike.
