About Labastide-Saint-Georges Flea Market

Each spring, Labastide-Saint-Georges hosts its annual flea market on the car park of Salle Raymond Bressole. This Sunday event brings together private sellers and visitors for a friendly bargain-hunting morning, in a lively south-western Tarn commune near Lavaur. Around forty sellers, a warm atmosphere, and the chance to discover this rural village that has kept its Occitan identity just minutes from Toulouse.

A village flea market in south-western Tarn

The Labastide-Saint-Georges flea market continues the tradition of major rural spring events in Tarn. Held on the Salle Raymond Bressole car park, it offers a practical, open setting for sellers and visitors. Labastide-Saint-Georges, with around 3,000 residents between Lavaur and Saint-Sulpice-la-Pointe, has a rich community life; the annual flea market is one of its most popular expressions.

Around forty private sellers

Roughly 35 to 40 private sellers unpack their second-hand items. You find the typical rural Tarn bric-a-brac: adult and children's clothing, toys, baby equipment, books, crockery, small furniture, tools, gardening items, trinkets, sports articles and sometimes a few rarities (old farm tools, old books, vinyl records). Gentle prices, welcome negotiation, relaxed atmosphere.

Labastide-Saint-Georges, heart of the Pastel Country

Labastide-Saint-Georges is a commune of the Pays de Cocagne, the Tarn region around Lavaur whose medieval wealth came from pastel (the famous blue). The town offers discreet but authentic heritage: church, traditional farms, position between Tarn and Agout rivers. Under 30 minutes from Toulouse via A68, it's an ideal destination for a Sunday countryside morning.

Practical advice

Spring is ideal: usually mild Tarn weather, long days. Arriving between 8 and 9am gives the widest choice. The Salle Raymond Bressole has ample parking. A community refreshment stand and light catering help extend the morning. A cheap, pleasant family day out in the Tarn countryside.
