Summer car boot sale on Quai Théophile Cornu in the seaside hamlet of La Tamarissière in Agde
The Quai Théophile Cornu, which runs along the Hérault river in its final bend before the sea, hosts the Tamarissière car boot sale every summer. This hamlet, part of the municipality of Agde, owes its name to the tamarisk trees that line its banks and beaches. The setting is idyllic: stalls are lined up along the river, in the shade of pine and plane trees, while fishing boats gently sway with the current. You can find clothes, toys, books, crockery, trinkets and small furniture in a holiday village atmosphere.
La Tamarissière is one of the best-kept secrets of the Agde coastline. Unlike the neighboring Cap d'Agde, this hamlet has retained its character as a fishing village with its small huts, its guinguettes (riverside cafes) and its natural beach bordered by a maritime pine forest. The Quai Théophile Cornu is the heart of this small resort, with its grilled fish restaurants and its breathtaking view of the Hérault estuary. The car boot sale is part of the summer events that punctuate the life of this charming and authentic hamlet.
The Association des Commerçants de la Tamarissière organizes the car boot sale as part of a summer entertainment program. Registration is by phone at 06 42 65 27 52. The event runs from 7 am to 6 pm, allowing early exhibitors to enjoy the cool morning air and afternoon strollers to find great deals at reduced prices.
