Annual car boot sale in Fabrezan, a wine-growing village in the Aude Corbières
Fabrezan is a village in the Aude department located in the Corbières region, about thirty kilometers west of Narbonne. The commune's name comes from the Occitan word "fabre" (blacksmith), testifying to the ancient presence of blacksmiths in this village. Today, vineyards dominate the local economy, with wines produced under the Corbières appellation.
The village is crossed by the Verdouble, a small tributary of the Orbieu, and benefits from a pleasant landscape between vineyards and scrubland. The commune has an active community fabric that organizes numerous events throughout the year.
The Fabrezan car boot sale is part of the village's rich community tradition. Organized each year with the support of dedicated volunteers, it offers private sellers a platform to sell their second-hand items and visitors a great opportunity to find unexpected treasures.
The stalls offer characteristic items from the Aude region:
Fabrezan is also known for being the birthplace of Charles Cros (1842-1888), a French poet and inventor who was one of the pioneers of phonography and the development of color photography. Charles Cros's birthplace is visible in the village. This cultural dimension gives Fabrezan a special identity that enriches the car boot sale experience.
The Maison de la Mémoire (House of Memory) in Fabrezan, dedicated to Charles Cros and Languedoc culture, complements the village's cultural offerings. Visitors can combine treasure hunting with heritage discovery during their visit to Fabrezan.
The Fabrezan car boot sale is an excellent introduction to the discovery of the Aude Corbières. This territory of limestone hills, vineyards, and scrubland offers a multitude of discoveries: Cathar castles in ruins perched on dizzying ridges, the Gorges de l'Orbieu, medieval villages, and tasting cellars. The Corbières wine route is an essential discovery itinerary to complete during a stay in the region.
Fabrezan is accessible from Narbonne (about 25 minutes northwest) via the D613 and D611. From Carcassonne (about 50 minutes southeast) via the D611. Parking in the village.
