The Courbesseaux Car Boot Sale: Treasure Hunting in a Seille Village

Every year in May, the village of Courbesseaux hosts its annual car boot sale near the church. Organized by the ALCHC (Association Loisirs et Culture des Habitants de Courbesseaux), this family event attracts bargain hunters from all over the Nancy region.

Courbesseaux, a Village in the Sânon Plain

Courbesseaux is a small commune in Meurthe-et-Moselle located in the Sânon plain, between Nancy and Lunéville. This peaceful agricultural village, about twenty kilometers east of Nancy, is marked by the history of the Great War: it was on its territory that the first battles of the Battle of Grand Couronné took place in August 1914, a decisive episode for the defense of Nancy.

A Village and Family Car Boot Sale

The car boot sale unfolds around the church of Courbesseaux, offering a picturesque and shaded setting for exhibitors and visitors. Individuals offer their second-hand items — toys, clothes, crockery, books, trinkets, and small furniture — at a rate of 10 euros for a minimum of 5 linear meters, in increments of 5 meters. Stand setup is between 6 am and 8 am, with sales continuing until 6 pm. Exhibitors must leave the premises from 6 pm. The atmosphere is that of a village car boot sale, friendly and relaxed, where everyone can hunt for treasures at their own pace.

Entertainment and Gourmet Food

The ALCHC doesn't just organize a car boot sale: a funfair for children is set up to entertain the youngest while parents browse at their leisure. On-site catering emphasizes conviviality with wood-fired flammkuchen, sausages and fries, and crepes, all accompanied by a well-stocked refreshment stand. The profits from this festive day contribute to the financing of the association's activities throughout the year, serving the cultural and leisure life of the inhabitants of Courbesseaux.
