With June and the start of the Var coast's summer season, Carqueiranne hosts one of the liveliest events of its monthly cycle. Place de la République comes alive from 6am, and first hunters arrive to enjoy the cool morning. The June edition is especially loved by returning second-home residents and early-season tourists.

What's on offer

Clearly summery: light clothing, beach items, nautical gear, holiday reads, outdoor toys, garden items, small furniture, seasonal crockery, barbecue utensils, Mediterranean decor. Locals from Carqueiranne and the Toulon area participate, joined by some holidaymakers offloading second-home items.

No-fuss organisation

The ADIDAC merchants' association runs the event year-round with the same formula: no booking, vendors welcome from 6am, moderate pitch fee. Simple, smooth, spontaneous turnout.

An ideal setting

Place de la République is a stone's throw from harbour and beaches. Shoppers can chain bargain hunting with a morning swim, terrace brunch or a coastal walk.

Before the night-market season

In July-August, Carqueiranne turns to night markets and summer events; the Sunday flea market becomes rarer. June is thus a prized chance to enjoy the classic morning format.
