Car boot sale and gardeners' plant fair in the village of Chaumeil, at the foot of the Monédières
The car boot sale of the Bruyères de Chaumeil is a spring event organized by the association L'Écho de nos Bruyères in this mountain village perched at the foot of the Monédières massif. Every year in May, the town hall square hosts about fifty exhibitors for a morning and afternoon of outdoor treasure hunting.
The originality of this event lies in its plant fair, a true spring market dedicated to amateur gardeners. You can find tomato, zucchini, lettuce, flower, perennial, and herb plants, offered by local producers and passionate gardeners. It's the ideal opportunity to stock your vegetable garden and mountain garden when the season allows at altitude.
Chaumeil is a commune in the Monédières massif, at about 700 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Millevaches en Limousin Regional Natural Park. This granite massif covered with heather (hence the association's name) offers exceptional panoramas of the Corrèze countryside. The village is an ideal starting point for hikes on the summits of the Monédières, including the Puy de Pauliac (919 m).
The association's volunteers provide refreshments and light meals on site. Parking is free. The atmosphere is that of a small mountain village where everyone knows each other, and where visitors are warmly welcomed.
