Traditional flea market and car boot sale in the village of Château-sur-Allier
Every last Sunday of March, the village of Château-sur-Allier comes alive for its traditional flea market and car boot sale. This village, nestled in the Allier valley between Moulins and Bourbon-l'Archambault, offers a bucolic and authentic setting for this spring event which attracts bargain hunters from the north of the department.
The brocante of Château-sur-Allier embodies the spirit of village car boot sales that enrich the associative and social fabric of rural communities in the Allier region. The squares and streets of the village host stalls from individuals clearing out their attics and second-hand dealers offering furniture, crockery, trinkets, books, and antique objects. The atmosphere is family-friendly and conducive to exchanges.
Château-sur-Allier is located in the vast alluvial plain of the Allier, a wild river that is one of the last free-flowing waterways in Europe. This territory, rich in remarkable biodiversity, is also a land of Charolais cattle farming and large-scale agriculture. The vernacular heritage — Bourbonnais farms, castles, mills — bears witness to a rural past that resonates with the world of flea markets.
The pitch at 2 euros per linear meter with a minimum of 5 meters remains very affordable and encourages the participation of as many people as possible. This modest price helps maintain the popular and friendly character of this village event.
