Large flea market organized by APEL Saint-Joseph at Salle Loar in Taulé
Taulé is a town in the Breton region of Léon, located about ten kilometers from Morlaix, in the Penzé valley. It is a lively rural commune with a particularly dynamic associative life. Among the most active associations, the APEL (Association des Parents d'Élèves de l'Enseignement Libre) of the Saint-Joseph school stands out for its commitment to the school community and for organizing events that bring together families from the area.
Each year in mid-March, APEL Saint-Joseph organizes its large flea market at Salle Loar, Taulé's multi-purpose hall located on Rue du Terrain des Sports. This event is conceived as a 'large flea market', a term that well reflects its ambition: to bring together many exhibitors, welcome the public in good conditions, and offer a varied and quality selection.
One of the major assets of the APEL Saint-Joseph car boot sale is the location: Salle Loar is a heated hall, which is not insignificant in March in Finistère, where the cold can still be felt. Exhibitors and visitors can therefore browse at their leisure, without having to endure the sometimes difficult weather conditions of the Breton spring.
The flea market is held from 9 am to 4:30 pm, a reasonable duration that allows everyone to organize themselves without rushing. Exhibitors offer the wide variety of items characteristic of family car boot sales: clothing for children and adults, toys in good condition, books, board games, dishes, small household appliances, trinkets, and decorative objects. A great diversity for all tastes and budgets.
On-site, APEL volunteers provide catering: crepes, cakes, and drinks allow you to take a break and recharge your batteries between aisles. The atmosphere is warm and family-friendly, as in most car boot sales organized by parent associations, where everyone knows each other a little and where good humor is the order of the day.
The profits from this event are entirely reinvested in the activities of the Saint-Joseph school: school trips, educational materials, cultural projects... This type of participatory financing, specific to Breton APELs, is a concrete illustration of family solidarity for education. By participating in the flea market, exhibitors and visitors directly contribute to improving the learning conditions of students in Taulé and the surrounding areas.
