The school's charity flea market in the heart of Quercy
Vazerac is a rural commune of 760 inhabitants north-east of Moissac, in the Sud Quercy de Lafrançaise community of communes. With its neighbour Labarthe, it shares a very active parents' association (APE), which runs several events each year to support school projects. The autumn flea market is one of its highlights.
The event takes place at the Vazerac village hall, a central facility for local community life. The format combines indoor exhibitors and outdoor stands. This dual setup guarantees the event regardless of November weather, a month when the Quercy can alternate bright sun and morning fogs on the hills.
Mostly private sellers — pupils' families, parents and residents of the two communes — offering the classics: adult and children's clothing, toys, games, books, baby equipment, crockery, knick-knacks and small furniture. The autumn timing also makes it a great chance to get a head start on Christmas shopping or refresh the winter wardrobe at low prices.
A charity event — profits directly fund school trips, equipment and class projects —, the flea market plays the village conviviality card to the full. Refreshments and food are run by volunteer parents. Use your visit to discover Lafrançaise, or Moissac and its famous Romanesque cloister listed by UNESCO, 20 minutes by car.
