A clearance sale in the Green Venice

Damvix is an emblematic village of the Vendée Poitevin Marsh, the 'Green Venice', famed for its canals and punt-boat rides. A private vendor is holding a house-and-workshop clearance on Saturday 9 May 2026. This format differs from a regular flea market: a full or partial home contents sale, often combined with a workshop clear-out — with better bargains than typical flea markets because everything must go fast.

Damvix, Poitevin Marsh village

A commune of around 800 inhabitants between Arçais (Deux-Sèvres) and Maillé, at the heart of the wet marsh. Its conches, boat quay, bridge and picturesque lanes make it a Marsh highlight. The 19th-century Saint-Martin church and 'Grand Site de France' status for the Marsh.

Life by the water

The village lives to the marsh's rhythm: eel fishing, punt rides, dike walks. Especially lovely in spring when greenery and birdlife abound.

Extending the visit

Take a traditional punt (plate) from the Damvix landing. Neighbouring Arçais, Le Mazeau, Maillé and Saint-Sigismond complete the Marsh discovery. Twenty minutes away, Maillezais with its medieval abbey is a must.
