A village flea market at the foot of Sainte-Baume

Signes, a rural commune of inland Var halfway between Toulon and Saint-Maximin, keeps the charm of traditional Provençal villages: old fountains, stone houses, shaded squares and walking trails in the heart of the Sainte-Baume massif. Every year, its Comité des fêtes runs a popular Sunday market that brings the village centre to life.

The 3 May 2026 edition marks the start of the regional summer season, with strong turnout from locals and nearby sellers.

Atmosphere and exhibitors

The market mostly hosts Signes residents and neighbouring villagers, joined by some occasional dealers. The feel is family-friendly and relaxed: browsing, chatting and stopping for coffee. The Comité des fêtes curates a warm ambiance and sometimes adds local product tastings.

Beyond the market, Signes deserves a proper visit. The village has a strong identity with its springs, the nearby Castellet racing circuit and privileged access to the protected Sainte-Baume massif. Extend the day with a hike, a visit to neighbouring Cuers, or tastings of local olive oil, honey and goat's cheese.

Practical tips

Come early for the best pieces, park at the village entrances as the centre is largely pedestrian, and bring small change. Early May weather is usually ideal in the Var: cool morning, sunny afternoon.
