Sainte-Verge, a residential commune at the gates of Thouars in northern Deux-Sèvres, celebrates May Day each year with its Lily of the Valley Festival and a flea market organized by the Sainte-Verge - Hoyos Twinning Committee. This spring event, set up around the Salle Alcide d'Orbigny, combines the lily of the valley tradition with the pleasure of bargain hunting in a warm atmosphere.

The Sainte-Verge - Hoyos Twinning

The organization by the Twinning Committee reflects the cultural links between Sainte-Verge and the Spanish commune of Hoyos in Extremadura. This Franco-Spanish exchange enriches local community life and gives the flea market an original international dimension.

An Accessible Flea Market for All

At just €1 per meter, the Sainte-Verge flea market is one of the most affordable in the region. Private sellers offer clothing, shoes, toys, games, books, crockery, ornaments and various items. Visitors are welcomed from 9am to 6pm.
