Gardening and heritage in the Ponthieu
The Saint-Riquier Plant Swap brings together 45 exhibitors at the Salle Multifonction of this town of character, famous for its flamboyant Gothic abbey church listed as a historic monument. A day dedicated to gardening lovers: seedlings, cuttings, seeds, shrubs and advice exchanged in the spirit of sharing that makes the charm of these events.
Some events cannot be separated from their setting. Held in this small Ponthieu town harbouring one of the finest Gothic abbey churches of Picardy, it combines gardening joy, sharing among enthusiasts and discovery of exceptional heritage. With 45 exhibitors, it is one of the biggest plant swaps in the Somme.
Wide diversity: vegetable seedlings, annual and perennial flowers, bulbs, shrubs, climbers, roses, sometimes young fruit trees. Exhibitors include passionate individuals, gardener associations and some small local producers.
Beyond commerce, a spirit of exchange: seedlings, advice, addresses, ideas. Intergenerational transmission. Barter often has an important place.
One of the Somme's most remarkable towns. Its Saint-Riquier abbey church, 15th-16th century flamboyant Gothic masterpiece, is nationally listed and one of France's largest churches. Founded in the 7th century by the hermit Richarius, the abbey became a major cultural centre of Carolingian West.
Covered, accessible venue. Bring crates, cash, time. After the swap, don't miss the abbey church visit.
