May 1st brocante in Saint-Ouen-sur-Morin, in the Petit Morin valley
The Saint-Ouen-sur-Morin brocante is a May 1st gathering held on rue de Montapeine, in the heart of this charming village in the Petit Morin valley, in northern Seine-et-Marne. Between wooded slopes and wet meadows, this spring brocante is part of the fine rural traditions of the area and attracts both residents and visitors seeking the Brie countryside. The 2025 edition was held in July for the benefit of the Les 3A association, illustrating the solidarity mission often attached to these village events.
Every May 1st, Saint-Ouen-sur-Morin renews one of the oldest French traditions: the spring brocante. Set up on rue de Montapeine, the event enjoys the verdant setting of the Petit Morin valley, a small river winding through the slopes of northern Seine-et-Marne before joining the Marne. In this bucolic setting, stalls stretch along the street and available spaces, offering bargain hunters a pleasant walk through the heart of the village.
Individuals, occasional dealers, and antique lovers share the stalls, offering a well-balanced mix of clothing, toys, books, trinkets, tableware, small furniture, and decorative items. Unlike large urban fairs, this brocante cultivates a family-like and relaxed character: visitors take time to chat with exhibitors, bargain good-naturedly, and leave with lovely finds sometimes sold for just a few euros. The warmth of welcome and diversity of items make it a fixture for local bargain hunters.
