Bric-à-brac on Place Kergoustin
The Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie grand bric-à-brac is on Tuesday 21 April 2026 on Place Kergoustin, in this seaside resort and emblematic fishing port on the Vendée Côte de Lumière. A local charity gathers a spring bargain-hunting event just before tourist season.
Tuesday is an unusual day but often coincides with Easter holidays and the late-April long weekend, drawing second-home owners. Place Kergoustin is right by the Marine harbour.
Over 7,000 year-round (40,000+ in summer), born from the 1967 merger of Saint-Gilles-sur-Vie and Croix-de-Vie on either side of the Vie river. Famous bridge connects them. One of France's liveliest Atlantic ports: fishing fleet (renowned sardines), marina, home to famous sailors.
Famous for the Vendée Globe round-the-world solo race, beaches (Grande Plage, Mouettes, Boisvinet). 1919 covered market, lively pedestrian promenade.
Visit the port, grilled sardines lunch, Charles Milcendeau museum. Nearby Mouettes beach. Easter break brings life to the coast before summer crowds.
