The great traditional fair of the Aveyron Gorges
The Saint-Eutrope Fair flea market is the traditional spring event in Montricoux. This major patron-saint fair combines flea market, market, agricultural show, livestock display, demonstrations, fairground rides and entertainment in the village streets, around rue des Remparts, keeping alive Quercy's rural tradition.
Every year in late April, Montricoux celebrates Saint-Eutrope with a great traditional fair that takes over the whole village. Part of the long tradition of Quercy spring fairs, Saint-Eutrope is one of the village's identity events and one of the Aveyron Gorges' major dates, drawing thousands of visitors from across the department and beyond.
The flea market is the popular heart of the fair, but it sits within a much broader programme: a large market with varied stalls, craft display (potters, ironworkers, leather workers), agricultural show with presentation of cattle, sheep and horses, farm machinery and utility vehicle demonstrations, vintage car display, fairground rides for children, carriage and animal rides. This diversity gives Saint-Eutrope its unique identity.
Private sellers set up on rue des Remparts and in the central lanes from morning. You'll find the classic range: crockery, clothing, toys, books, vinyl, knick-knacks, small furniture. But the atmosphere is very different from a classic flea market: here, you bargain hunt amid bleating sheep, smells of grilling sausage and the music of bandas parading through the village.
From 8 AM to 4 PM, the village beats to the fair's rhythm. Bandas and brass bands liven the streets. A large raffle runs during the day. On-site catering with South-West specialities (sausage, fries, Quercy lamb dishes), charcuterie plates, and the traditional bar. The day particularly appeals to families, with children captivated by the animals and rides.
Use your visit to discover Montricoux, a pretty village on the Aveyron, its castle, the Marcel-Lenoir museum devoted to the symbolist painter, and the bridge across the river. Bruniquel is 5 km away.
