The great autumn flea market in the Rémys neighbourhood, in the heart of Van Gogh's village
Auvers-sur-Oise is a world-famous village in the Oise valley, where Vincent Van Gogh spent the last months of his life. The Dutch master died here in July 1890 and is buried alongside his brother Théo. Every year, thousands of visitors come to admire the church, the town hall, the wheatfields and the cemetery that inspired his greatest paintings.
Auvers-sur-Oise is also a lively village with a rich associative life. The Rémys neighbourhood, in the lower part of the village, has maintained an autumn festival tradition since 1885. The Les Rémys association organises a three-day neighbourhood festival in October each year. At the heart of these festivities, the flea market on the first Sunday of October has become a key fixture in the region's autumn calendar.
Between 120 and 150 private sellers lay out their wares along rue Rémy from 6 AM. The atmosphere is festive: fairground rides, live music, food and drink by the association all contribute to a truly popular neighbourhood celebration. Free entry for visitors.
