Since 1956, the Puces Islaises are THE major summer rendezvous for Olonne hunters. In 2026, they mark a historic milestone with their 70th edition on Sunday 28 June. This exceptional longevity reflects locals' and holidaymakers' attachment. The event takes over the whole centre: place de la Mairie, rue Clemenceau, place de l'Église, rue du Centre, rue des Marais. 7am-6pm, L'Île-d'Olonne becomes a giant hunting ground.

Traditional grand flea market format: 180-220 sellers mixing private sellers, brocanteurs and specialist collectors. Exceptionally varied offer: antiques, old furniture, crockery, glassware, paintings, marine items, jewellery, vinyl, comics, vintage clothes, old books, postcards, curiosities.

L'Île-d'Olonne, Olonne country village

~2,900 inhabitants. Authentic village between Les Sables-d'Olonne, Brétignolles-sur-Mer and Olonne-sur-Mer. Name refers to former insularity (marsh-ringed village). Today a link between coast and inland, with strong maritime identity.

Marshes and birds

Famous for its marshes, a nature reserve for many migratory and nesting birds. The bird observatory reveals this remarkable fauna — a favourite for ornithologists.
