Historic flea market in Bordeaux, every Sunday and public holiday at Place Meynard
The Puces de Saint-Michel are the historic flea market of Bordeaux, located at Place Meynard at the foot of the Saint-Michel spire. Every Sunday and public holiday, around 100 professional and private exhibitors offer antiques, flea market items, old books, vinyl records, second-hand clothes, and curiosities. This emblematic market, one of the oldest in the city, is an integral part of the identity of the Saint-Michel district.
For decades, the Puces de Saint-Michel have been a must-visit event for Bordeaux bargain hunters and lovers of old objects. Every Sunday and public holiday, the Place Meynard, at the foot of the majestic Saint-Michel spire, transforms into a vast open-air flea market. Around 100 exhibitors, a mix of flea market professionals and private individuals, set up their stalls in this historic square. You can find antiques, old tableware, rare books, vinyl records, vintage clothing, reclaimed furniture, and a thousand curiosities.
The Saint-Michel district is one of the liveliest and most cosmopolitan districts in Bordeaux. Located between the Garonne River and the historic center, it is dominated by the Saint-Michel spire, an isolated bell tower of the basilica of the same name, which culminates at 114 meters and is the highest point in the city. The flea market is part of an environment rich in shops, restaurants, and bars that make this district a vibrant place to live. Place Meynard, lined with typical facades, offers a picturesque setting for Sunday bargain hunting.
The Puces de Saint-Michel are freely accessible and attract a diverse audience: seasoned collectors, decorators looking for original pieces, students looking for bargains, or simply curious strollers. The atmosphere is lively, with the cries of the vendors and the haggling discussions echoing across the square. After the hunt, it's pleasant to sit at one of the nearby terraces to enjoy a coffee while admiring your finds. The flea market operates all year round, in all weather, true to its reputation as a permanent market.
