The major summer flea market in the Santerre capital
With 130 exhibitors, the June Montdidier flea market ranks among the most important bargain-hunting events in eastern Somme. This substantial volume of exhibitors guarantees a rich and diverse offering.
Montdidier is a small town of around 6,000 inhabitants, former sub-prefecture of the Somme, located in the east of the department. Birthplace of the chemist Antoine Parmentier who made the potato known in France. The town was almost entirely destroyed during World War I and rebuilt in the 1920s.
The diversity of exhibitors guarantees a great richness of offering. From private sellers: crockery, linen, clothes, toys, books, vinyl records. From professionals: restored furniture, lighting, paintings, collectibles, jewellery, ceramics.
The Montdidier flea market stands out as a major event in the landscape of bargain-hunting events in eastern Somme. It attracts visitors from Roye, Noyon, Beauvais, Amiens.
The bargain-hunting day can be enriched by the discovery of Montdidier and its surroundings. The Saint-Pierre church, rebuilt after the war in a carefully crafted neo-Gothic style, deserves a detour.
