Large historic May 1st clearance sale in the center of Molsheim, medieval town of the Alsatian vineyard
The Molsheim May 1st Clearance Sale is an Alsatian spring institution. Organized every year since 1962, it takes place on Friday May 1, 2026 in the historic center of this medieval town of the Alsatian vineyard. With around 200 stands and an attendance ranging from 15,000 to 26,000 visitors, this sale is among the most popular in Bas-Rhin. It's the ideal opportunity to stroll through the cobblestone streets of Molsheim and, of course, to get the traditional lucky sprig of lily of the valley.
Exhibitors, around 180 permanent and non-permanent merchants, offer a vast assortment: clothing for the whole family, shoes, leather goods, plants and seasonal aromatic herbs, sweets, Alsatian cheeses, charcuterie, local agricultural products and various items. Several catering points and a dozen drink stands allow for gourmet breaks. The festive atmosphere makes this sale a family event appreciated by residents and visitors from all over Bas-Rhin and neighboring Germany.
Molsheim, a city of art and history with about 9,400 inhabitants, is nestled at the foot of the Vosges, about twenty kilometers west of Strasbourg. Famous for its architectural heritage - the Renaissance Metzig of 1554, the Jesuit church, its medieval ramparts - Molsheim is also inseparably linked to the Bugatti car brand, founded there in 1909.
