Varen Flea Market

A flea market in the heart of Quercy-Rouergue

Nestled in a bend of the Aveyron river, at the far north-east of Tarn-et-Garonne, the village of Varen combines medieval charm with rural authenticity. Each June the commune hosts its annual flea market, an awaited event for residents and surrounding villages.

A crafts, home and garden focus

More than a generalist flea market, the Varen edition has a clear focus on crafts, home and garden. Exhibitors offer crafts materials (wool, fabric, beads, haberdashery), small furniture, vintage china, kitchen utensils, household linen, plants and cuttings, garden furniture, tools, decoration, plus the traditional bric-a-brac.

An exceptional setting

Varen is a real heritage gem: its fortified Romanesque church Saint-Pierre, its medieval lanes, its old castle and its leafy setting by the Aveyron make it one of the most beautiful villages of the northern department. The flea market takes place in the village centre and around the village hall.

Far from large urban gatherings, the Varen flea market keeps the authenticity of a village event. The bar run by the town hall or local associations, the encounters with residents, the relaxed atmosphere — everything contributes to a warm rendezvous.
