The monthly chiners' rendez-vous of south Vendée
Every second Sunday of the month, May to December, Place de Verdun in Fontenay-le-Comte hosts a regular flea market. A handy date for south Vendée chiners, gateway to the Poitevin Marsh, in the Renaissance city classed City of Art and History.
Fontenay, sub-prefecture of south Vendée, holds a monthly flea market on Place de Verdun — 2nd Sunday of each month. 2026 dates: 10 May, 14 June, 12 July, 9 August, 13 September, 11 October, 8 November, 13 December.
Monthly format is rare in Vendée — favoured by pros and collectors. Setting near the old town adds chine charm.
City of Art and History. Rabelais studied here. Fountain of the Four Tias, Notre-Dame church, Renaissance houses.
More pro, more curated than big one-off flea markets. Good for vintage furniture and decor for interiors or rentals.
