The monthly bargain-hunters' meeting place in Goussainville, every 2nd Sunday of the month
Goussainville is a Val-d'Oise town of around 28,000 inhabitants, known for the nearby Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport, but above all for its Vieux Pays: an exceptional historic quarter, a medieval village frozen in time, which is a source of local pride and visitor amazement. It is in this town of dual identity – airport modernity and rural memory – that a popular monthly flea market takes place.
Held every second Sunday of the month, this regular flea market brings together local sellers keen to part with everyday objects, clothing, furniture, toys and curiosities in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere. The event is accessible by public transport: RER B and buses 27, 21 and 91 serve Goussainville.
A visit to the Goussainville monthly flea market is an ideal opportunity to discover the Vieux Pays, one of the most singular sites in Île-de-France. This ghost village, abandoned when the airport was built in the 1970s, has since been partially rehabilitated by artists and families who have breathed new life into its cobbled streets, stone houses and Romanesque church of Saint-Médard.
