Mazaugues Flea Market on Ascension Day

Mazaugues is a small Var village in Provence Verte, at the gates of the Sainte-Baume forest, a few kilometres from Tourves and La Roquebrussanne. Stone houses, cobbled alleys, church and village square set the scene. Each Ascension Day, the town organises its annual flea market with around 52 sellers. 2026: Thursday 14 May.

The Ascension public-holiday slot is a well-rooted tradition in several Var villages. Allows families, locals and hunters to spend a weekday off in authentic surroundings. 2025: Thursday 29 May.

Format and mood

52 registered sellers offer a human-scale format suited to the village size. The flea market fills the main square and spills into adjacent streets. Small-village mood: regulars greet each other, kids run around, the organising association's refreshment stand serves coffee and pastries in the morning, sandwiches and cold drinks at noon.

Mazaugues and Sainte-Baume forest

Mazaugues is a gateway to Sainte-Baume forest, one of the finest Mediterranean relict beech forests, listed and protected. Combine the flea market with hiking — paths lead from the village up to the ridges. The Ice Ecomuseum recounts the regional natural-ice trade (17-19th c.) — a local must-see.
