Annual Festival Committee flea market on Rue Alfred et Edmé Sommier in Maincy
The Maincy flea market is an annual event organized by the Festival Committee of this historic Seine-et-Marne commune, famous for housing the unmissable Vaux-le-Vicomte castle. Every year, exhibitors and visitors meet on Rue Alfred et Edmé Sommier, in the heart of the village, for a friendly day of bargain hunting in an exceptional heritage setting. An event that combines village tradition and prestigious surroundings, making a flea market visit the ideal opportunity to discover one of the most beautiful villages in southern Brie.
Every year, Maincy organizes its annual flea market, an essential moment on the local community calendar. Rue Alfred et Edmé Sommier, which crosses the village, then transforms into a long improvised market where exhibitors offer old items, clothing, toys, books, crockery, trinkets and various curiosities. This tradition is part of the long history of the village and perpetuates the spirit of conviviality that characterizes rural French Brie flea markets.
Maincy is a village that owes its worldwide fame to the presence on its territory of the Vaux-le-Vicomte castle, a masterpiece of French classical architecture built in the 17th century for Nicolas Fouquet by the greatest artists of the time: Louis Le Vau for architecture, André Le Nôtre for the gardens and Charles Le Brun for the interior decor. This castle is considered the precursor of Versailles and attracts thousands of visitors from around the world every year.
The street where the flea market takes place bears the name of the Sommier family, owners of Vaux-le-Vicomte castle since the late 19th century. Alfred Sommier, industrialist and patron of the arts, bought and saved the estate from ruin in 1875, undertaking a vast restoration campaign that allowed Vaux-le-Vicomte to regain its former splendor.
The flea market offers a general selection that delights bargain hunters of all kinds. Individual exhibitors and occasional professionals unpack their varied stocks: old furniture, family crockery, vintage clothing, children's toys, books, vinyl records, costume jewelry, tools and decorative items.
The immediate proximity of Vaux-le-Vicomte castle offers flea market visitors a unique opportunity: to extend their day by discovering this patrimonial masterpiece. The French gardens designed by Le Nôtre, the sumptuous castle interiors, temporary exhibitions and cultural events held year-round are all reasons to visit.
The Maincy flea market takes place on Sunday, June 7, 2026 on Rue Alfred et Edmé Sommier, in the village. Organized by the Maincy Festival Committee. Admission is free for visitors.
