Saligney is a small village in the Jura region whose inhabitants are affectionately nicknamed Biquets (Goats). It is only natural that the local festival committee has adopted this name to organize the festive life of the commune, of which the annual car boot sale is one of the highlights. Every year in April, Rue Principale and Rue de la Fontaine are transformed into a long open-air market where individuals come to clear out their attics.

An authentic village car boot sale

From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., stalls line the village streets. The atmosphere is that of an authentic rural car boot sale: you browse, you chat, you negotiate the price of an old lamp or a set of vinyl records. The items offered are varied – crockery, clothing, toys, books, tools, trinkets – and the prices are low, as is customary at a country car boot sale.

The festival committee provides refreshments and food throughout the day, allowing visitors to regain their strength between browsing the stalls. It is also an opportunity for the residents of Saligney and neighboring towns to meet in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
