A solidarity car boot sale for the Young Firefighters

On Sunday 24 May 2026, the Young Firefighters (JSP) of Cabrières-d'Avignon organise their annual car boot sale in this perched northern Luberon village. All proceeds (pitch fees, refreshments) fund the section's exchange trip to Germany. Such initiatives are classic within the French JSP network and give the event a deeply solidarity dimension: buying a trinket or a toy directly contributes to the citizenship training of volunteer adolescents.

Young Firefighters, a school of citizenship

JSP sections, attached to fire stations, welcome 11-18 year-olds who learn first aid, fire-fighting and rescue on their free time. Beyond technical learning, JSP transmit values of solidarity, discipline and commitment. Exchange trips with European counterparts are highlights that require major fundraising each year.

Cabrières-d'Avignon, a perched Luberon village

Cabrières-d'Avignon, a commune of over 1,700 residents, sits at the foot of the northern Luberon hill. The village is crossed by the 18th-century Wall of the Plague (vestige of a sanitary cordon) and overlooked by the ruins of its feudal castle. Nearby lie the Seguine chasm, the Claparèdes plateau and the famous villages of Gordes, Lacoste and Ménerbes.

Atmosphere and goods

The car boot sale starts at 7am. Village residents mainly sell clothing, toys, books, records, crockery, curios, small furniture, baby equipment, bikes and sports items in a warm atmosphere overseen by JSP families.
