The spring 'foire à tout' of the village of Vert in the Mauldre valley
The Foire à tout of Vert is the annual gathering of bargain hunters and villagers in this small Yvelines community. Organized by the town hall on Rue de la Libération, the event brings together individuals, amateur flea market sellers and curious visitors in an authentic village atmosphere. A lovely spring moment to hunt for bargains and unusual objects just a few kilometers from Mantes-la-Jolie.
Every year in early June, the village of Vert, nestled in the Mauldre valley between Mantes-la-Jolie and Houdan, comes alive for its 'Foire à tout'. Organized by the town hall on Rue de la Libération, in the heart of the village, this event brings together residents, occasional exhibitors and bargain hunters from neighboring communities for a day marked by conviviality and good deals.
In Vert, there's no professional antiques fair: the Foire à tout remains faithful to its mission as a local gathering, where individuals come to clear out their attics, basements and outbuildings. You'll find everything here, as the name suggests: old tableware, trinkets, children's toys, clothes, books, gardening tools, small furniture, vinyl records and everyday objects. It is precisely this simplicity that makes the charm of these rural flea markets, where haggling is still done the old-fashioned way and prices remain very reasonable.
With fewer than 400 inhabitants, Vert is a typical small rural community of the Mantois agricultural plain. Its Saint-Pierre church, sunken lanes and cultivated fields offer a peaceful setting that contrasts with the bustle of major Ile-de-France flea markets. The Foire à tout is one of the village's main annual events, an opportunity for residents to gather and welcome visitors from the surrounding area.
The Foire à tout of Vert mainly attracts a local audience: families on a Sunday walk, bargain hunters looking for original pieces and regular flea market goers from the Mantois region. The event takes place outdoors on Rue de la Libération, the main street of the village. A refreshment stand and light catering accompany the day, for a simple and relaxed moment in the countryside, less than an hour from Paris.
Around Vert, heritage enthusiasts can extend their visit by exploring the Mauldre valley, the surrounding villages like Boinville-en-Mantois, Jumeauville or Flacourt, or the nearby Rosny forest. Mantes-la-Jolie, with its superb Notre-Dame collegiate church, is fifteen minutes away by car.
The Foire à tout of Vert returns on Sunday 7 June 2026, on Rue de la Libération. Organized by the town hall, this 2026 edition promises another lovely day of village browsing in the rural Mantois. Free admission for visitors.
