The annual flea market of the Ponthieu village
The Gapennes Réderie is the flagship event of this Ponthieu village near Abbeville. It traditionally takes place on Whit Monday on the rue du Général de Gaulle, the main street that turns into a large bargain-hunting trail. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Monday May 25.
Gapennes is a small village of about 380 inhabitants nestled in the Ponthieu, 15 km east of Abbeville. Every Whit Monday, the rue du Général de Gaulle transforms into a vast open-air flea market that draws bargain hunters from across the region.
The layout gives this event its flavour: the main street, lined with red-brick houses and longères, is entirely given over to exhibitors.
Clothing, toys, books, records, crockery, small furniture, tools, decorative items. Locals happily bring out family heirlooms.
The Ponthieu, a former medieval county, is a land of character at the gates of the Bay of Somme.
The fête committee and local associations provide refreshments, sausages, fries, waffles, regional beer.
