Bargain hunting at the foot of one of France's most beautiful villages
Bruniquel's flea market turns the Promenade du Ravelin into a long ribbon of colourful stalls at the foot of one of France's most beautiful villages, perched above the Aveyron gorges. Run by the local festival committee, it is a much-loved meeting point for bargain hunters from across Tarn-et-Garonne, in a stunning medieval setting.
Bruniquel, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, hosts its annual flea market on the Promenade du Ravelin, beneath the cliffs crowned by two 13th-century castles. Cobbled lanes, pink-tiled roofs and views over the confluence of the Aveyron and Vère make for a unique backdrop. Visitors can combine a day of bargain hunting with the discovery of an exceptional heritage site.
The day brings together residents and locals emptying their attics: South-West earthenware, books, clothes, toys, vinyl records, small rustic Quercy furniture, old tools and curiosities. Sellers from nearby villages (Penne, Montricoux, Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val) often bring lovely countryside pieces. The vibe stays family-friendly, far from the rush of larger urban events.
The festival committee focuses on conviviality: small food and drinks on site, plus the chance to extend the day with a meal in one of the village restaurants or a picnic along the Aveyron. Many visitors take advantage of the trip to discover Bruniquel Castle or canoe on the river.
Come early to grab the best pieces and to find easy parking. Bring cash, comfortable shoes for the steep lanes, and a sturdy bag. The Aveyron valley gets warm in summer, so a hat and water are advised.
Bruniquel's flea market returns on Sunday 26 April 2026 on the Promenade du Ravelin. Organised by the festival committee, it brings together residents and bargain hunters at the foot of one of France's most beautiful villages. Refreshments on site.
