The bi-monthly flea market on Place de la Liberté
The Thionville Flea Market is a must-visit event for bargain hunters in the Moselle region. Twice a month, from March to December, Place de la Liberté transforms into a vast open-air treasure hunting ground. Individuals and antique enthusiasts gather from 6 AM to find trinkets, antiques, vintage items, and forgotten treasures. This market, deeply rooted in Thionville's life, attracts locals and visitors from the wider border region.
The Thionville Flea Market sets up twice a month on Place de la Liberté, right in the heart of the city. From March to December, exhibitors unpack their finds: trinkets, old tableware, used books, vintage clothing, vinyl records, small furniture, and collectibles of all kinds. The atmosphere is that of a true outdoor market, where people take their time to rummage, chat, and negotiate.
Place de la Liberté, lined with 18th-century facades, offers a particularly pleasant setting for this morning market. A stone's throw from the Tour aux Puces, a medieval vestige of Thionville, exhibitors set up their stalls in a friendly atmosphere. The surrounding cafes and bakeries provide opportunities for a break between discoveries.
Located at the gates of Luxembourg and Germany, Thionville benefits from a cross-border population that enriches the diversity of items offered. Items of Luxembourgish, German, or Belgian origin are regularly found here, much to the delight of collectors. This unique geographical positioning gives the Thionville flea market a rare cosmopolitan character in Lorraine.
