The car boot sale of the Chille Animation Committee

Every May, the Chille Animation Committee organizes a large car boot sale in this residential village on the outskirts of Lons-le-Saunier, the prefecture of Jura. Stalls are set up along the Chemin des Vannodes and in the surrounding fields, specially closed off for the occasion, offering a vast space for open-air treasure hunting.

A large-scale car boot sale

Thanks to its proximity to Lons-le-Saunier, the Chille car boot sale attracts a large number of visitors and exhibitors. Individuals offer the contents of their attics: crockery, toys, clothes, books, trinkets, small furniture, and various objects. The rural setting of the fields and meadows adds a bucolic charm to this day of treasure hunting.

Chille is a commune of about 500 inhabitants nestled in the Vallière valley, south of Lons-le-Saunier. The village is dominated by impressive limestone cliffs that frame the valley. This remarkable natural setting, just a stone's throw from the town, makes Chille a privileged place to live and a unique backdrop for the car boot sale.

Entertainment and catering

The Animation Committee, very active throughout the year, offers a refreshment stand and a catering service during the car boot sale. The profits are used to finance the various events organized by the association to liven up the village life: patron saint's festival, neighborhood meals, children's activities.
