Bargain hunting at the foot of a medieval castle in Provençal Var
The Brocante au Château de Cuers sets up its stalls in a unique heritage setting: the old village and the grounds of the medieval castle. A day of Provençal bargain hunting where private sellers and collectors meet in the heart of the Var wine country, between olive groves and Côtes de Provence AOP vineyards. An unmissable spring rendezvous for lovers of bric-à-brac, antiques and treasures of the South.
Perched on its rocky promontory, the town of Cuers dominates the wine-growing plain of central Var and preserves the remains of a medieval castle that has watched over the village since the Middle Ages. It is in this authentically Provençal setting, among cobbled alleys, colourfully shuttered facades and shaded squares, that the Château de Cuers flea market takes place - a much-loved bargain-hunting event enjoyed by residents of the Toulon basin as well as holidaymakers driving the Provence wine route.
The atmosphere is that of a typical southern village flea market: friendly, colourful, unpretentious. Stalls line the picturesque streets and small squares of the old centre, offering the classic mix of Var vide-greniers. You will find private sellers emptying family attics alongside seasoned dealers from Toulon, Hyères or Brignoles.
Cuers is one of those Var villages that has kept its authentic soul far from the bustle of the coast. The houses rise around the castle, whose ruins dominate the tiled rooftops and offer a panorama over the wine-growing plain. The olive groves, Côtes de Provence vineyards and, in the distance, the foothills of the Maures massif form a remarkable backdrop.
Arrive early, before 9am, to have the pick of the finest pieces. Bring cash, a sturdy bag and, if the weather is sunny, a cap and sunscreen. Parking in the old centre is limited - leave your car on the edge of the village and walk in through the narrow streets. Extend your visit with a tasting at one of the nearby wine estates.
The 2026 edition of the Château de Cuers flea market is announced for 18 May 2026. Bargain hunters will gather in the old Provençal village at the foot of the medieval castle for another day of treasure hunting in a remarkable heritage setting of inland Var. An eagerly awaited event for antique lovers of the Toulon area.
Cuers is about 25 km northeast of Toulon, in the heart of the Var wine country. From the A57 motorway, take exit 10 Cuers-Pierrefeu. Train access via Cuers-Pierrefeu station on the Marseille-Nice line. Park on the outskirts of the old centre.
The flea market runs from early morning to late afternoon, with exhibitors setting up at dawn and public opening from around 8-9am.
A mix of private sellers and professionals from across the Var. Booking is advised in advance.
The Notre-Dame-de-Santé chapel, the castle ruins, Côtes de Provence vineyards, and the Maures plain nature reserve are all worth a visit.
