The Charroux Car Boot Sale is held on the last Sunday of April in the streets of this medieval town, listed among the most beautiful villages of the Allier. From 7 am to 7 pm, stalls are set up between ramparts, half-timbered houses, and cobbled alleys. This exceptional heritage setting makes this flea market a unique event for lovers of treasure hunting and heritage. Free admission.
Charroux is one of the heritage jewels of the Allier. This former fortified town, whose ramparts and medieval gates are remarkably preserved, offers an exceptional setting for the annual car boot sale held on the last Sunday of April. Visitors wander among the stalls in history-laden alleys, between half-timbered houses and old shops.
Charroux preserves a coherent and well-maintained medieval ensemble: fortified gates, ramparts, watchtower, half-timbered houses, and Renaissance private mansions. This built heritage, which has earned the village a place in many tourist guides, provides a unique backdrop for a flea market. The atmosphere emanating from these old stones adds a poetic dimension to the search for antique objects.
Charroux is also famous for its artisanal mustard, produced in the village according to traditional recipes. Visitors to the car boot sale can take advantage of the day to visit the mustard makers' workshops and taste these specialties. Artistic crafts are also well represented in the village, with workshops of potters, painters, and designers lining the alleys.
The generous opening hours—from 7 am to 7 pm—allow treasure hunters to make the most of this day. Early birds, from opening time, sift through the stalls in the cool morning air, while the afternoon is ideal for a more relaxed stroll through the medieval streets, between last-minute bargains and village discovery.
