Bargain hunting on an island is a special experience: objects often have maritime stories, sellers are either long-term islanders or holiday-home residents parting with accumulated items. Île d'Yeu, accessible only by boat from Fromentine or Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, offers a unique setting. 2026 edition traditionally first Sunday of August: Sunday 2 August 2026 (TBC).

Encore M'Yeu A Cadouère association

The association brings together residents and visitors of Cadouère, Ker Mercier, Ker Gigou, Ker Borny and Château Gaillard villages in the southwest of the island. Its aim is to strengthen friendship bonds between islanders and summer visitors, and animate local life. The annual flea market is a flagship event.

Île d'Yeu, Atlantic pearl

Atlantic island of about 4,800 permanent inhabitants (tripling in summer). Single commune, several villages on 23 km². Port de Joinville is the main arrival point. Wild south coast with cliffs and small ports, softer north coast with sandy beaches.

Getting there

Yeu Continent from Fromentine (30-45 min) or Compagnie Vendéenne from Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie in season. Strong summer booking advice. Bicycles and electric cars on site.
