The APE de Cerisy-la-Salle's car boot sale — in the bocage of Centre-Manche
The Parents' Association (APE) of Cerisy-la-Salle (50210) organizes its annual car boot sale to fund school activities. This village in the Manche bocage, known for its pre-Romanesque abbey, hosts this popular event which brings together exhibitors and bargain hunters in the friendly atmosphere of Norman second-hand markets.
The car boot sale of the APE of Cerisy-la-Salle is organized by the Parents' Association of the local school, whose main objective is to fund educational trips, school equipment, and cultural activities for the children of Cerisy-la-Salle and the surrounding communes. This annual car boot sale is the APE's main fundraising event.
Exhibitors, primarily parents of students but also individuals from Cerisy-la-Salle and the surrounding Manche bocage, offer the classics of the Norman rural car boot sale: furniture and household items, crockery and linen, clothing for children and adults, toys and games — largely supplied thanks to donations from families — books and school manuals, school and art supplies, trinkets, and various objects. Prices are generally very affordable, in the tradition of associative sales aimed at a family audience.
The APE of Cerisy-la-Salle plays a linking role between families and the school, organizing convivial events throughout the year. The car boot sale is an opportunity for parents, teachers, and villagers to meet, in a spirit of an open school community. The attendance of external visitors enriches these links and makes Cerisy-la-Salle known beyond its canton.
Cerisy-la-Salle (50210) is a village in the Manche bocage, in the canton of Périers, known mainly for its Romanesque abbey and its international cultural center. Cerisy-la-Forêt Abbey, very close by (a few kilometers), is a masterpiece of 11th-century Norman Romanesque art, one of the best-preserved in the region. The Centre Culturel International de Cerisy (CCIC), located in the commune's castle, has also been a internationally renowned venue for intellectual and literary conferences since 1952.
Cerisy-la-Salle is part of the intercommunal community Périers Marais et Bocage, a rural territory that maintains a dense agricultural and artisanal fabric.
