The Les Sables-d'Olonne annual flea market celebrates its 17th edition in 2026 - firmly rooted in the local calendar. Saturday 2 May 2026 at Espace Audubon/Arago, 60 Bd Pasteur. Previous edition drew about 5,000 visitors to 150 sellers - lasting public enthusiasm.

As one of Vendée's top tourist towns, the event enjoys mixed attendance: residents, returning second-home owners, early spring holidaymakers. Spacious, central Audubon/Arago space allows 150 sellers to display optimally, with full facilities.

Les Sables-d'Olonne, Vendée Globe capital

One of the biggest French Atlantic resorts with over 45,000 year-round residents (doubled in summer). Merged in 2019 with Le Château-d'Olonne and Olonne-sur-Mer. Emblematic of the Vendée Globe, the solo non-stop unassisted round-the-world race, starting from the port every four years.

Tourist heritage: the Remblai (iconic seafront promenade), Grande Plage, La Chaume district, Sainte-Croix abbey museum, Saint-Nicolas priory, Île Penotte with its shell-covered facades. Active fishing port, marina, commercial port - Les Sables lives by the sea.

Tips

Arrive early (from 8am) for best finds. Audubon/Arago has parking but it fills fast - use public transport or outer car parks if coming far. Afterwards, walk down to the Remblai and enjoy a seafood lunch at the port. May beaches aren't crowded yet - ideal time.
