Spring market and car boot sale in Châtillon-en-Diois, in the heart of Diois
Every March, Châtillon-en-Diois emerges from its winter slumber with its Spring Market. This event, combining a car boot sale, local crafts, and regional products, has become an anticipated gathering for the inhabitants of Diois and lovers of this remote Drôme valley. Stalls are set up in the village square for a festive day that heralds the return of the good season.
The cantonal capital of Diois, Châtillon-en-Diois is a village of about 500 inhabitants located at an altitude of 570 meters in the Bez valley, about twenty kilometers south-east of Die. Surrounded by magnificent landscapes—cliffs, wild lavender, limestone hills—this medieval village with its narrow streets and singing fountains is one of the most picturesque in the department. Its proximity to the Col de Menée, the Archiane cirque, and the Gats gorges makes it a starting point for remarkable hikes.
The Spring Market of Châtillon-en-Diois is an opportunity to discover or rediscover local producers: honey from Baronnies, cheeses from Vercors, aromatic plants from Diois, Clairette de Die wines. The car boot sale stalls stand alongside craft and agricultural stands, creating an authentic village festival atmosphere. It is also an opportunity for residents to clear out their cellars and attics after winter and prepare for the good season.
The Spring Market is held every year in March in the main square of Châtillon-en-Diois (26410). Access from Die is via the D93 (approximately 20 km). Inquire with the town hall for the exact date of the annual event.
