Sunday flea market on the Peupliers leisure area in Bessan, extending the main Sunday market.
Every Sunday morning, the Espace de Loisirs des Peupliers (Victor Goudou) in Bessan (34550) hosts a flea market that complements the village's traditional main food market. From 7 am, under the poplar trees that shade the site, vendors unpack a popular assortment: second-hand furniture, trinkets, clothing, tableware, toys, tools, books, and everyday items. Treasure hunters appreciate this unique combination: you do your shopping at the market and then stroll among the flea market stalls, all in an authentic village atmosphere.
Bessan is a wine-producing village of about 5,000 inhabitants located between Agde and Pézenas, in the heart of the Hérault wine plain. Crossed by the Hérault river, the village has a picturesque old center with its circular streets inherited from the medieval castrum, its Romanesque Saint-Pierre church, and its remnants of ramparts. The surrounding vineyards produce wines under the Languedoc and Picpoul de Pinet appellations. On Sunday mornings, the village comes alive with a large market that attracts residents from all over the valley.
The Espace des Peupliers offers a shaded and equipped setting: restrooms, a refreshment stand, and free parking. The pitch fee is €10 per vehicle (car or van, with or without trailer), setup from 6:30 am. Entry is free for visitors, who can combine a visit to the nearby food market with treasure hunting at the flea market.
