Le Pré-Saint-Gervais Community Garage Sale: An Open-Air Springtime Tradition

Every year in late May, Place Séverine in Le Pré-Saint-Gervais is transformed into a vast secondhand market. Hundreds of individual exhibitors — up to 700 at the busiest editions — set up stalls from 7 AM to offer the contents of their wardrobes and attics: clothing for all seasons, books, childhood toys, small furniture, crockery and bric-a-brac of every kind. Organised directly by the town hall, the event is a true open-air neighbourhood party, free and welcoming to all.

A Gathering for All Ages

More than just a market, the Pré-Saint-Gervais Garage Sale is an intense moment of social life in this small commune of 18,000 inhabitants. Families with pushchairs, eagle-eyed collectors, bargain-hunting students and curious passers-by mingle between the stalls in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The sheer variety on offer — from vintage toys to paperbacks, retro clothing to 1970s lamps — ensures everyone finds something to take home.
