The JSA Car Boot Sale, a Sporting and Friendly Event

The Jeunesse Sportive de l'Ars (JSA), a historic sports association in the Saint-Augustin district of Bordeaux, organizes its annual car boot sale every spring on the Place de l'église Saint-Augustin. This event allows the association to finance its sports activities while animating the neighborhood. Private sellers set up their stalls in the square and adjacent streets, offering a wide variety of second-hand items: clothing, toys, books, dishes, knick-knacks, and small furniture.

The Saint-Augustin District, a Village within the City

The Saint-Augustin district is located west of Bordeaux, between the city center and Mérignac. This residential area retains a village atmosphere, with its local shops, schools, and its neo-Gothic church overlooking the square. The car boot sale is part of this neighborhood life tradition and brings together residents of all generations. The church square, shaded and pedestrianized during the event, offers a pleasant setting for strolling and bargain hunting.

A Family and Sporting Day

JSA volunteers manage a refreshment stand and a food stall during the car boot sale. The association takes advantage of the event to raise awareness and present its sports activities. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, with children playing in the square while parents rummage through boxes in search of bargains. Admission is free, and the car boot sale usually takes place on a Sunday in late March.
