About Houilles Braderie

The Houilles Braderie is a major event in the Ile-de-France flea market calendar. Organised every first Sunday of October for more than thirty years, it brings together nearly a thousand dealers, antique sellers and private exhibitors in the streets of central Houilles. With thousands of visitors attracted from all over Ile-de-France, this braderie is one of the largest in Yvelines and one of the biggest autumn flea markets of the Paris region.

The Houilles Braderie: a flea market giant in Ile-de-France

For over thirty years, the Houilles Braderie has held a special place in the calendar of major flea market events in Ile-de-France. Every first Sunday of October, nearly 1,000 exhibitors set up their stalls in the streets of the town centre, turning the entire town into a giant open-air market. Organised by the Comité des fêtes in partnership with the Town, the event attracts thousands of visitors from across the Paris region, making it one of the largest braderies in Ile-de-France.

A thousand exhibitors, a huge offer

The reputation of the Houilles Braderie is based on the density and diversity of its offer. Professional dealers and antique sellers mix with private individuals emptying their attics and cellars, offering visitors a complete overview of what flea markets can offer at their best: antique furniture, crockery, jewellery, books, vinyl records, toys, vintage clothing, knick-knacks, curiosities, advertising items, paintings. This diversity, combined with the considerable number of stalls, guarantees every bargain hunter will find something, whatever their budget or area of interest.

Houilles, dynamic Ovillois town in the Seine loop

A town of nearly 32,000 inhabitants in the Montesson loop, west of Paris, Houilles enjoys a privileged location: Houilles-Carrieres station provides direct service to Paris via the RER A and Transilien L lines, making the town particularly accessible. Its lively town centre, renowned covered market and dense commercial life make it an ideal setting for an event of this scale. The Ovillois, as its inhabitants are known, are proud of their braderie, which for several decades has been the biggest festive and commercial event of the year.

A municipal tradition carried by the Comite des fetes

The Houilles Braderie is a fine illustration of what quality associative and municipal commitment can produce. The Comite des fetes, the real backbone of the event, mobilises its volunteers every year to manage the impressive logistics required by such an event: allocation of pitches, signposting, flow management, safety, cleanliness. The partnership with the Town of Houilles provides the technical resources and public space needed. This professionalism is felt at every edition, whose smooth organisation is praised by exhibitors and visitors alike.

Affordable rates and priority to residents

In keeping with the tradition of major municipal braderies, Houilles applies a pricing policy that favours its residents: 19 euros for two metres for Ovillois, 24 euros for non-residents. This modest but significant difference encourages local participation while opening the event widely to outside exhibitors. Registration is by file with the Comite des fetes, several weeks before the event, to ensure optimal organisation.

A day to enjoy in good spirits

Coming to the Houilles Braderie means embarking on a full day of strolling, discussing, negotiating and discovering. The most serious arrive at opening at 7 am, walking the still-cool aisles looking for the rare piece. Others prefer to arrive later, enjoying the stalls in a more relaxed atmosphere. The town centre restaurants and cafes prepare for the event and offer special menus and quick formulas: this October day is also a celebration for Ovillois shopkeepers. Plan good shoes, a sturdy bag and maybe a trolley if you hope to bring home furniture and finds.
