The Gratiferia of Saint-Paul-lès-Dax: giving and receiving in complete freedom

The Gratiferia is an original concept of a completely free market, based on the principle of giving. Organized every year at the MJC of Saint-Paul-lès-Dax, this solidarity event invites residents to sort through their cupboards, cellars, attics, and garages to drop off items they no longer need. In return, everyone can leave with what they like, without any obligation to exchange.

Simple and friendly operation

The principle is clear: you drop off what you want, you take what you want. It is not necessary to drop off items to be able to take them, and vice versa. Items can be dropped off the day before the event at the MJC. On the day, the Gratiferia opens its doors from 10 am to 6 pm, transforming the hall into a large sharing market where everyone can find their happiness.

Various items for all tastes

The items accepted at the Gratiferia are numerous: books, CDs, DVDs, board games, toys, video games, plush toys, decorations, dishes, small garden and DIY tools, jewelry, office supplies, leather goods, and kitchen utensils. However, clothing, shoes, electrical appliances, and large household appliances are not accepted.

An ecological and solidarity gesture

Beyond the practical aspect, the Gratiferia carries a strong message: that of waste reduction and responsible consumption. By giving objects a second life, this event contributes to environmental preservation while creating social connections between the residents of Saint-Paul-lès-Dax and surrounding towns.
