The great spring flea market of Amiens' historic district
The Grande Réderie of Saint-Acheul takes place every spring in the streets of Amiens' oldest district, around the Saint-Acheul faubourg. Organized by the Les Acheuléens neighborhood committee, it brings together 200 to 300 private and professional exhibitors offering bric-à-brac, tableware, clothes, toys and antiques. Coinciding with the Saint-Acheul Festival, this réderie is one of Picardy's major spring bargain hunting events.
Every year, on the third weekend of May, the Saint-Acheul district, southeast of Amiens, turns into a vast open-air market dedicated to bargain hunting. Organized by the Les Acheuléens neighborhood committee, the Grande Réderie Saint-Acheul has become one of the major spring events in the Amiens metropolis. It is part of the broader Saint-Acheul Festival taking place from 14 to 17 May 2026 with fairground attractions, concerts and catering.
The event takes over several emblematic streets: rue du 31 Août 1944, rue de Mons, rue Cyrille Werbrouck, rue de l'Abladène. Between 200 and 300 exhibitors — mostly private residents clearing their attics, but also professional antique dealers — offer a very diverse display: tableware and porcelain, vintage clothing, old books, toys, vinyls, small furniture, lamps and all sorts of curiosities.
The Saint-Acheul district is not just any neighborhood: its name gave rise to the scientific term "Acheulean", designating a major prehistoric period marked by biface tool-making. 19th-century excavations in the Somme's alluvial terraces revealed tools hundreds of thousands of years old. The Saint-Acheul archaeological garden nearby is a unique memorial site.
The réderie — the typical Picardy word for a flea market — takes on its full cultural dimension here. The atmosphere is warm, locals meet up, and Picardy accents mingle. The neighborhood shops and bars join in with extended terraces, and the committee ensures refreshments throughout the day.
To make the most of the réderie, arrive by 7am when exhibitors finish unpacking. Park on peripheral car parks or take the tram. Exhibitor registration takes place at 146 rue Saint-Acheul during late April and early May opening hours.
