Spring car boot sale in Pîtres in May, Seine-Andelle confluence in the north of Eure
The Grande Foire à tout de Pîtres is an important spring event in the north of Eure. Every May, this town located at the confluence of the Seine and the Andelle brings together exhibitors and bargain hunters for a great day of flea market in an exceptional geographical location, at the crossroads of two emblematic Norman valleys.
Pîtres is a particularly well-located town in the north of Eure: it is situated at the confluence of the Seine and the Andelle, two of the most emblematic rivers of Haute-Normandie. This exceptional geographical site, which has been inhabited since the Merovingian era — a Carolingian royal palace was located here — gives Pîtres a unique historical character. Its large spring car boot sale, held every May, benefits from this remarkable setting between the banks of the Seine and the Norman bocage.
The qualification of "large" car boot sale is not undeserved: the Pîtres event is one of the most important in this sector of the north of Eure. Exhibitors — individuals and antique dealers — invade the streets and squares of the town to offer a range of flea market and car boot sale items covering all categories: Norman furniture, antique tableware, silverware, books, toys, clothing, tools, and collector's items. The density of stalls and the diversity of goods make the Pîtres fair a must-attend event for bargain hunters from Seine-Maritime, Eure, and Seine-et-Marne.
The Seine-Andelle confluence at Pîtres is a place steeped in history. Archaeological excavations have revealed the importance of the site in the Carolingian era, notably with a royal palace where royal courts were held in the 9th century. The Abbey of Fontaine-Guérard, a few kilometers upstream on the Andelle, is one of the most beautiful Cistercian monuments in Normandy. This exceptional historical and natural heritage makes the Pîtres region particularly interesting for a day of flea marketing enriched with cultural discoveries.
The Grande Foire à tout de Pîtres is held in May, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the streets and squares of the town. Free admission. Refreshments available on site. Parking available in the town.
