130 exhibitors on the banks of the Loire, first Sunday of July, coffee offered and no reservation required — Habitat et Humanisme
Every first Sunday of July, Brives-Charensac hosts its Grande Brocante Vide-grenier on the banks of the Loire, near the media library. Around 130 exhibitors set up at €2/m, without prior reservation, for a festive day with coffee offered to each exhibitor. Organized by Habitat et Humanisme, this solidarity flea market combines conviviality and social action along the Loire.
Brives-Charensac, a commune in the agglomeration of Le Puy-en-Velay in Haute-Loire, offers an exceptional setting every first Sunday of July for its large flea market: the banks of the Loire, a stone's throw from the media library. Around 130 exhibitors set up along the river to offer their items in a natural and peaceful setting, between the Loire sky and the Velay mountains.
Simplicity is one of the strengths of this event: no reservation is necessary for exhibitors. You arrive on site, pay €2 per linear meter, and set up. This system without advance registration encourages spontaneous participation and gives the flea market a freshness and diversity of offerings that highly structured events do not always have. With 130 exhibitors, the offering is nevertheless abundant enough to satisfy the most demanding bargain hunters.
As a welcome gesture, Habitat et Humanisme offers a coffee to each exhibitor at the start of the day. This simple but significant gesture illustrates the organization's spirit: to put exhibitors in the best conditions to have a pleasant day. This generous gesture also creates a moment of collective conviviality in the early morning, before visitors flood the aisles.
Habitat et Humanisme is a national association working for the housing of people in difficulty. Its local branch organizes this flea market to finance its solidarity actions in Haute-Loire. By buying or exhibiting at the Grande Brocante des Bords de Loire, participants directly contribute to helping families find decent housing. This social anchoring gives an additional dimension to the event.
The chosen site, on the banks of the Loire near the media library, is one of the most pleasant in the commune. The green banks and the proximity of the river create a special atmosphere, ideal for an outdoor day. Visitors can combine their visit to the flea market with a walk along the river, enjoying the beauty of the Velay landscape.
